FAQ

What is your Shipping Policy?

  • We offer free shipping on four or more stock tires to most areas in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, all of PEI, and most of Ontario.
  • We offer low cost shipping to the rest of Canada. If no shipping options show up upon checkout online, please call us for further details on shipping options.
  • Any further shipping needs after original purchase (for example an exchange) are subject to shipping charges.

When should I expect my tires?

  • We do our best to get tires out as fast as possible! Typical lead time is 1 business day to process and 1-3 business days for delivery from the courier. During our high-volume seasons April – June and September – December we and the courier experience larger volumes then normal. During the high-volume times we can process your order in 1-3 business days and expect delivery between 2-5 business days after processing. We always do our best to go beyond expectations and are working diligently to get as many orders out as possible each day!
  • All orders must be paid for in full before shipping.

Tracking Information

  • If you placed your order over the website and have entered your email, we automatically enter your email to get email notifications for the courier of your choice.
  • If you do not receive any tracking updates from the courier after 3 days, you can give us a call at 902-932-8473 and press 1 to get sent to our Shipping Support team who will be happy to look into this for you and offer you an update.

What is your Return Policy?

  • The Tire Man offers a 7 day exchange policy for any products that we keep in stock and have not been mounted on rims. The Tire Man does not offer refunds, however a customer can opt for a credit on file for 30 days, which is also transferrable, if they are returning a product and another option is not available in stock at that time. For products that are special ordered in for a customer direct from vendors, such as rims or tires that we do not keep in stock, there is a 20% restocking fee. For products that have shipped to a customer, the customer can either make arrangements to have the product returned to The Tire Man, or The Tire Man will credit back the portion paid, minus applicable shipping costs associated with the original order.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

E-transfer:

  • We offer payment by E-transfer. As a small business we prefer this option as many credit card companies charge businesses an extra 4% for processing fees on every order.  If you are able to send an e-transfer we appreciate it! If not, that’s ok too! We offer payment by Visa and Mastercard both over the phone and on our website.
  • E-transfer orders are held for 24 hours. If we do not receive your e-transfer by end of day your order will be cancelled and tires returned to inventory. A new order will need to be placed.

Credit Cards:

  • We offer payment with Visa and Mastercard both over the phone and on our website.
  • (over the Website) We use address verification to confirm customers identity. If your order comes through with an address verification issue we will contact you directly as well as cancel the order.
  • (Over the phone) We will let you know right away whether or not the address verification has failed. In this case we may retry your card with a new address or you can pay with e-transfer.

Sezzle:

  • We are happy to offer payment though Sezzle, which helps you pay for your order in four payments over 6 weeks! Once you’ve created your order you can choose Sezzle as your payment option. For any specific questions in regards to Sezzle, you will have to contact them directly at 1-888-540-1867.

What does the Pricing on the website include?

  • Prices listed on The Tire Man website (www.thetireman.ca) are the per tire price, not including provincial tire levy, sales tax or applicable shipping (if any). Please note provincial tire levies are specific to the province the tires are being shipped to and therefore vary based on the provincial laws.

Do you offer installations?

  • The Tire Man does not offer installations. We have a few recommended shops that we deal with locally for those customers picking up at our retail store, and we can provide customers with their contact information so they can coordinate an appointment for an installation. If a customer is looking to upsize/downsize their tire size, the team at The Tire Man can explain the dimension change and any affect to the vehicles speedometer however we will not make any fitment guarantees. It is recommended that a customer discuss with a licensed mechanic for fitment recommendations if ever varying from manufacturer stock sizes.

Are deposits left by customers reserving stock refundable?

  • Deposits are non-refundable. If a deposit is left by a customer, The Tire Man team guarantees the stock this customer is asking to be reserved for them will be available for them. There is no exception to this rule, whether a deposit was left 2 days ago, or 4 weeks ago. We have promised to reserve inventory for the customer and therefore have not sold the inventory to other customers who may want the product, and for this reason the deposit will not be refunded to a customer who has changed their mind on a product. The minimum deposit required to reserve a set of four tires is $50, and less than four tires is $25. We allow inventory to be reserved under a deposit for up to 30 days, after which time if the customer has not contacted us to purchase the product out right, the inventory is no longer held for them.

How do I know which tire size I need?

  • All vehicles have a stock tire size, known as the original equipment tire size. Most vehicles can also use other sizes as alternatives to the original size; and furthermore, most vehicles can use a variety of rim diameter sizes. All of these variables depend on the year of manufacture, make and model of the vehicle. All three of these things must be confirmed by the customer in order to ensure the correct product is offered by The Tire Man.
  • For customers who are not sure where to look for their tire size, a good starting point is checking the sticker that can be found on the driver's side door. This sticker shows the vehicle's OE specifications, including the tire size, load index and speed rating required. While this sticker may show the OE size, keep in mind your vehicle could be running a smaller (or larger) rim size on your vehicle, and therefore the tires will also be a different size than shown on the sticker. You can also check the side of your tire to find the size currently being used on the vehicle. We would recommend comparing the OE stock size written on the sticker with the current tire size on the vehicle before purchase.

Is the tire a P rated or LT rated?

  • Most tire sizes begin with a "P" in front of the size, which stands for Passenger Rated. This is a standard rating for most passenger cars, SUVs and vans.
  • Truck tire sizes can start with a P (Passenger rated) or LT (Light Truck rated). The LT rating can range from load range C, D or E. The additional plies on LT rated tires are designed to reinforce the sidewalls to prevent blow outs when driving with additional weighted loads or towing additional weight, driving on gravel/dirt roads where things such as rocks and debris may potentially puncture the rubber, as well as constructions sites where nails and other sharp objects may be present. It is always recommended that anyone driving in an off-road environment or doing heavy hauling/towing with their truck go with an LT tire.

I've never heard of some of your brands? Who makes them? Where are they made? Why are your prices so much cheaper than other retailers?

  • Antares/Roadcruza/Arivo are massive global companies, manufacturing their product directly out of China, and combined produce over 30 million tires a year. These companies distribute all over the world. The Tire Man introduced Antares to the East Coast of Canada in 2014, followed by Roadcruza in 2017 and Arivo in 2019.
  • The Tire Man has a number of commercial dealers throughout the Maritimes selling the Antares, Arivo, Roadcruza brands, however customers will not find this brand in any major retail stores in the Maritimes such as Walmart, Canadian Tire, Costco, etc. The Tire Man purchases all tires in bulk, direct from manufacturers. Because of the volume of tires being purchased, this allows for The Tire Man to have sole distribution of the brands and to offer unbeatable prices to retail customers. We are committed to offering high quality products at an exceptional value.
